African youths need self-discovery, network to progress – NGO

A Non-Governmental Organisation, I-Train Africa, has said African youths need self-discovery, soft-skills and network to be relevant and make progress in today’s world.

Speaking during a virtual press conference, founder of I-Train Africa, Aderinsola Adio-Adepoju, explained that a person’s network had become a more valuable asset that was priced above his or her knowledge.

She revealed that I-Train Africa (Nigeria) in partnership with UNLEASH (Denmark) would train over 50,000 African youths across over 36 African countries with essential life and soft skills at a virtual seminar.

Adio-Adepoju said the workshop which would be held on October 16, 2021, was entitled, ‘Global Mentorship Conference for African Youths.’

She said, “Clarity must be at the forefront of the education of African youths because lack of life skills and an understanding of the importance of a network were some of the problems faced by youths on the continent.

“There is a need for literate African Youths to understand the ‘whys before the how’s and they don’t understand why they are on their current academic pursuit or life path. And this needs to be addressed if they are to arrive in the future they envision for themselves.”

In the same vein, the patron of the Global Mentorship Conference for African Youths and CEO of AIDA Resources, Mr Abdullahi Abubakar, maintained that ‘’The education within the four walls of the school is not enough to get literate youths in Africa to the desired destination, they will need direction and clarity especially if they have desire to change for the better.”

The program lead for UNLEASH Denmark, Gregory Pepper also said that the support for the Global Mentorship Conference for African Youths was in line with the aims of UNLEASH in contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which addressed global problems.
