Attain greater heights, Bridge school tells female learners

The Bridge Nigeria has urged female learners to dream big and attain the heights of their education and other positive endeavors.

This was the summation of female speakers which Bridge Nigeria invited to inspire their female pupils at this year’s International Day of the Girl Child.

Partner and Workforce Advisory Services Leader (West Africa) at EY Consulting, Mrs Lola Esan, said educating a girl child would have a transformative effect on the local and global economy.

She said, “Educating and empowering the girl child who are the women of tomorrow should not be an option. It should be a norm, a way of life acceptable by all. To promote girls’ rights and highlight gender inequalities in Nigeria and all over the world, the United Nations holds the annual International Day of the Girl Child on October 11.”

Chief Financial Officer of a real estate company and a transformation expert, Mrs Folakemi Fadahunsi, told the Bridge girls and other young Nigerian girls and women that Okonjo-Iweala’s appointment and global recognition was a reassurance that they could dream and aspire to reach the peak of their sector.

“The gender digital divide should go beyond connectivity and access to devices as some girls still have their ambitions questioned. It is only by addressing the inequity and exclusion that span geographies and generations can we usher in a digital revolution for all. Flawed perceptions can be just as dangerous as illiteracy,” she said.
