Always aim for best, Caleb VC tells graduands

The Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, has advised graduands to always aim for the top.

Speaking at the 11th convocation ceremony of the institution told the graduating students that they were not the second-best but the best.

“I charge you graduands to go out there to conquer and overcome. There is none of you who is second best. You are meant for the top only. But don’t just put God first, let Him be your one and only. Never cooperate with the devil, because he is an expert in showing his victims the gains and not the consequence of such gains. The world is waiting for your manifestation. Fly the Caleb banner high. Remember your Caleb, our Caleb. Come back here to leave your imprint.”

Owens-Ibie also listed the best students, “Overall Best Graduating Student  at undergraduate (Female) is  Iredia  Ejehi, Computer Science with a CGPA  of 4.92 while the  Overall Best Graduating Student – Undergraduate (Male) – Ifezue Humphrey, (Computer Science), with a CGPA of 4.89 and the Overall Best Graduating Student Postgraduate is Fasuyi Olufunsho, Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a CGPA of 4.92.”

Pro chancellor, Caleb University, Prof. Sunday Ajayi, stressed that the institution was making effort at improving the employability of its graduates.

He said, “The University is equally making efforts at improving the employability of its graduates and international collaboration. Entrepreneurial studies and compulsory acquisition of ICT skills and gaining some level of certification in ICT is mandatory for our students. To achieve this, the institution’s management team, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie in the vision of the Visitor and Founder to move the University to the next level. High profile appointments in both academic and non-academic staff have been recruited to join the services of the University.”

The Executive Chairman, Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd, Dr Akintoye Akindele, also promised a gift of N5m each to the best two graduating students of Caleb University in the 2020/2021 academic session.

Akindele, announced this while delivering the convocation lecture of the university titled, ‘The Rhetoric and Reality of Youth as Game Changers.’
